Mary has lived experience with both OCD and multiple chronic health conditions, so she understands the nuance that neurodivergence and disability bring to the therapy experience. She takes a creative and flexible approach to help clients achieve their goals, live by their values, and set boundaries that empower them to live as shamelessly and independently as possible. In addition to supporting clients with OCD and chronic health conditions, Mary enjoys working with clients with an array of diagnoses including anxiety, phobias, ARFID, neurodivergence, and more. She also enjoys working with the LGBTQIA+ community as well as working with couples, specifically those who are struggling with sexual compatibility and who identify as polyamorous.
A little bit about me:
Mary began her career in mental health while working with her peers as both an academic coach and a team leader for The National Eating Disorder Association’s The Body Project as an undergraduate at Davidson College. Her graduate experience at Northwestern University lead her to specialize in working with all ages, and she delights in using Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE), art, and mindfulness interventions (MBSR) with children and young adults.
In her spare time, Mary volunteers as a clinician leader for the International OCD Foundation’s Chronic Illness and Disability Special Interest Group. Mary has extensive experience in treating OCD using both Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Exposure Therapy (ERP), especially for those with taboo and highly stigmatized themes, phobias, and body focused repetitive behaviors.
